Hello all. We have 19 meat birds that are all doing great except they started getting poopie butts this week, all are healthy and no real problems just wondering if they're growing too fast and this has something to do with it?
Thanks you guys!
Once again, a great community here. It's amazing the help/advice one can get in a flash at BYC. it's amazing how these little feathery friends can get under your skin and into your heart.
easttxchick, and Guinea Goonie, thank you for your kind words. Goonie, we have already...
Well, Thanks for the input on this issue. Our Girl just passed. We just buried her. We hope that she was not in too much pain, and that she passed quickly. We thank her for her life and the bounty she gave us. Once again, BYC community thanks for the advice, what a great online community. -Tom...
Wow! very quick responses, thanks!
She is 2 yrs old, in her prime. Her crop is not distended, it's hard to feel at all, even though I know where it is located. I think it's empty, as she is not eating. Gape worm.. Hmmm.. Our girls have a great chicken run, which is dirt. At times it can be muddy...
We have a problem with one of our blk austrolorps. Last night upon shutting up the girls, I found one perching and breathing heavy. Loud enough that I could hear her. I let her be for the night and this morning she is still doing it.. she was outside with the flock, but just standing there...
Wow!
Day three of our Girl's new broody behaviour.. We have decided to call here Mama. I had to kick her out of her box and shoo her outside. We have been making a hot mash of their layer crumbles which they love in the winter, and she immediately went-RAN to it and ate. Good thing. Then she...
Thanks to everyone here....
We have decided that she is broody, by how she is behaving, and also by the general consensus here. Relieved at the very least! We have never had to post because of a problem, and we are grateful to the BYC community here. Thanks everyone! Now we need to read up on...
Thanks Fort Worth!
We hope that that is all it is.. none of our girls (aged almost 2 yrs for the oldest down to one yr coming up in april) has ever shown any signs of broodiness that we can see.. we'd like to, because we'd like some chicks of our own! Thanks again.. gonna go look and see...
thank you DaughterofEve for your input... We picked her up, and put her on the floor and found the vent, she then got away from us and went outside. The other girls were feeding and she joined them, was eating a little.. she is not showing the signs I have read about otherwise. Not standing up...
One of our Girls, a blk Austrolorp has been sitting in her laying box for about 24 hrs now, and has a puffed up look, like she is trying to pass an egg. When I touch her she coos, I am not sure of if it is a sign of being in pain... we are worried... should we pick her up and try to massage the...

Yes, jaybme, that is part of it.
But there is also something much more suspect here going on. It may be about government intrusion into your life and mine. We have a right to have animals to feed ourselves. I do not have diseased animals, and make sure it is so. Like many back yard growers, my...
