Around 10-11months old (Silkies) Any idea to gender?

Yes, the black one has a pretty small comb. Nothing that stands out, except she (??) has a bigger flap below just on one side.

Around 10-11months old (Silkies) Any idea to gender?

I have NO idea what they are because they are almost a year old and they have not given us any eggs OR crowing. The only thing I know about them is their position(s) in their little group. Molly (the white) is the Alpha, although Lulu (The black) often tries to over take. Lulu was sick and weak...

Silkie: Black flap hanging from beak?

One of my silkies has a black thin/flat flap hanging from its beak. The other to do not have this. Is this specific to Roos?

What gender are these silkies? (Approx. 4 months old)

The closest I have is the white one head on, as shown above. Other than that, they don't really look like anything. Not pronounced..

What gender are these silkies? (Approx. 4 months old)

Yeah, I can't tell. When I think they are one thing, the next minute they may give me some other indicator showing the opposite, haha. Though, I am not experienced with the breed yet except for these so I am still learning.

Their coop is currently being built. They should be in it VERY soon! :)

Just another silkie gender thread. :)

Although I am pretty inexperienced with the breed (or chickens for the matter), I was thinking the same thing. S/he is also significantly bigger than the other two.

Any idea? I have lost count as to how old they are. I am thinking 8-10 weeks. Thanks :)

Help? 4 Wk Silkie w/ith stunted growth, watery eyes, & sleeping a lot. UPDTED: Added Video & PICS

Her eyes look better but other than that.. I have no idea, really. She still has an unkempt look about her. The other birds are filling out and becoming really fluffy looking and getting their fluffy tails. Lulu looks little, still. I am wondering if I should just put her back with her flock...

Thanks. Are those tests affordable? Didn't even think of the pine shavings being an issue. I'll have to look into putting her on something else just in case.

How do chickens decide what is food?

That's a great question. I have been wondering the same thing, myself!
