My Coop Project
I ordered a coop off of ebay, it was "Le Coop" and I got it with free postage. After weeks of beautiful weather it showed up in the middle of the worst storms we have had all winter.
The first sunny day we had I busted it open and set it up.
One of the legs was missing and one...
My first egg today! I am so excited I can barely contain myself.
It doesn't show in the lighting (or against the countertop) but the egg is a really pretty light blue/green. The girls earned some extra watermelon today!
I think I caught Tigerlily in the act when I went and checked the...
I picked up these three a little over a month ago from a lady who had to liquidate her newly acquired flock. Inara and Zoe are about 6 weeks old, Kaylee is closer to five. I was told Zoe was a black sex-link, and that Kaylee was a buff Orpington but that does not look right. Any clues as to what...
Alright, the kids were in a better mood and actually posed for a bit. There may have been bribery involved.
Here is a better picture of Amelia- I think she is a Barred Rock
and Felicity
Thanks so much!
I was hoping someone could let me know what the gender of my crew is. Let me know if these pictures aren't good enough, they did not feel like posing today, but I can try again tomorrow
This is Amelia Egghart
This is Felicity
This is Tiger Lily
This is Queen Elizabeth
Thanks!
I totally sympathize, the night before I got my babies I was freaking out too.
You seem to be well prepared, my only suggestion would be if you are worried about the temperature you can start them inside- give them a week or so indoors and then transition them outdoors. Also, I keep the liter...
Storage bins are on sale right now, i got my 49gl at Kmart for $9.99.
it even has wheels!
I bolted the frame with doubled up wire down to the lid keep the curious critters around the house out.
the girls (?) seem to like it.
I sure hope so, I just had one of the girls out and he sniffed it then relaxed and laid down. He didn't move off his pillow or make any real move. I guess the thing is to just keep working with him. He is really responsive to training so I am hopeful.
Thank you so much for your suggestions Dianaross77, I'm looking for the painter's tape right now. He really is a cowered about most other animals (he's bad experiences with cats and Chihuahuas which made him nervous about small things) so I am hoping to get him to see that chasing the girls is...
They have a dog/coyote/raccoon proof run for when they are older. As it is now, they are in a secure bin and he is never left alone with them. We have been keeping him on his bed and away from the babies but he seems to be very curious about them. I am hoping that the first time he gets pecked...
I got 4 chicks on Sunday and since then the dog has been really fascinated by them. He sits and stairs at them all the time and I am more than a little concerned. So far there has been nothing aggressive, and I am wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. Does anyone have advice for...
