All the chicks are acting and eating fine. They haven't had anymore bloody stool since yesterday's first dose. I have been giving them 1 tsp/gallon as that was the dosage I had found, should I increase it? And just want to confirm it is 5 days, as 3 days is also another time frame I had found.
Ever since I cleaned out the brooders two days ago I've noticed bloody stool. I picked up Corid 9.6% liquid and Nutri-Drench. Are these safe to mix in the same gallon of water? Also what dose/strength of the Corid should I use for the 5 day course?
I ordered a pair of Tufted Roman geese from Metzer's, fingers crossed they arrive safely. Though now that I somewhat have an idea of what my 4 week old Indian Runner ducklings are, I am pondering adding a few more females.
Looking for ideas on what to use for feeders and waterers in the run. I've got chickens, bantams, Indian Runner ducks and soon some Tufted Roman geese.
Torn between pvc feeders or trough, and if I want two different watering systems for the chickens and waterfowl...
With doing some reading about my Runner Ducks, I've come across an article stating they should be fed 1/2 wheat and 1/2 pellets.
Does anyone else do this? They will also be free ranging, but I do plan on giving what they need to fill up and what to give them the best diet.
Where does one find...
I am new to chickens and went with meyer's as at the time they had many varieties of chickens available. I ordered 18 chickens that arrived on 5/20. Two were missing and four of the six bantams ended up dying. There was also only nesting on the bottom and lots of air holes punched out, so I...
My first group of chicks are moving out from the brooder either today or tomorrow. I plan on using deep litter so I have about 2-3 inches of shavings laid down, roosts and food and water.
When does one usually add in more litter, just when it becomes more saturated? I've got this stuff called...
I have a roughly two week old Indian Runner duckling with a twisted leg. I am not sure if this has popped out recently or not (been gone for the last week), but I don't recall her having problems when I first got her. She, and the other two ducklings are kept on shavings or coop clean (none of...
Though the reason for getting them would be eggs, I'd much rather them be friendly and get less eggs. Would having girls or a bonded pair, or a single goose best?
Yes my main concern would be for them to be non aggressive to the other birds (and me!) because I would like to house them all together. The rest of the flock includes bantams, chickens, and runner ducks.
I am looking to add a goose or two to my flock. I've got a bunch of chickens including bantams, and a handful of Indian Runner ducks. I want something that will be friendly to me, friendly to the flock, produce a bunch of yummy eggs, and isn't going to be huge or very loud.
Thank you aart you've been a big help!
Question though, my BIL has a bunch of brand new plywood he can bring over.. but it's I believe just your everyday cheap ish plywood. Would that be okay depending if it's thick enough?
I'll probably just rip it out and put on plywood. I know nothing about building but I'm good with tools, this chick is gonna take yet another ride to home depot. Regarding the roof, what you put something on to cover the plywood?
