Thanks for all the welcomes! I'm excited to embark on this adventure. It may not be till next spring as we are moving in October and don't have a coop or anything setup. For now, I'll just research and live vicariously through the rest of you guys!
So I learned that the house two doors down has four hens. She's had them for years. She told me we are allowed to have them and that's she's had no problem. She once had a rooster, that wasn't suppose to be a rooster, started crowing.
