What's your incubation process? I'm curious about trying it with some ebay hatching eggs if possible. Would you be willing to share your secret? :)
I may have missed it in an earlier reply...
Hello everyone!
I'm starting to dream up some future breeds I want to create in the chicken world and one of which I need to produce a smooth feathered silkie.
I'm wondering if a smooth feathered silkie is a genetic difference from the silkie feathering (if it just randomly pops out) or if...
This is generally true yes! Americana is the classic chicken sold in farm stores that typically turn out with easter egger colors, random egg colors and other!
True Americauna is the breed that generally has blue eggs and the really pretty puffy cheek genetic! And Auracana have very...
I don't think they're hatching blue or black splash marans at their hatchery though, the only others they have are cuckoo and black copper 🤷♀️ I guess I'm not sure, I was curious if whites could have recessive splash genes or something?
Murray McMurray I believe is trying to start up a strand of white maran breeders (where I bought them from) but they don't have a ton, but thankfully I was able to get a few before they were out!
bbs would be Black/Blue splash? I'm not familiar with this abbreviation, sorry.
It could be two different things. My first idea is that it might be too hot, if it looks like labored breathing then it's possible the brooder or coop is too hot. My second idea is that it's possible it has slight split beak, which means it's jaws don't line up quite right. If it's not...
First is a splash! Breeding White and Black will give you splash chickies!
Not too sure about the black one though! Maybe a very highly variegated splash??
Some roosters don't always have the really big comb, which I think is just from genetics? But generally the large red comb, tail and saddle feathers are the typical rooster. Sorry it's not a hen! I think I might've had some barred rock roosters with some shorter combs, not sure though!
