Help for a very special baby 🐣

She’s still hanging in there and took some cooked eggs, honey, and formula! She’s also had her first real poop! I think she’s going to be ok, Now that’s she’s eaten, finally 💖

Help for a very special baby 🐣

I’ve mixed pedialyte, nutridrench, cooked eggs, and honey, and she’s started taking tiny bits via the syringe. As for her poop (your next comment) I saw her poop today while feeding (first one I’ve seen her do) and it water plus a little white.

Update; she’s up walking around today, in tiny micro bursts of energy. She’s drinking but still hasn’t figured out eating on her own yet. Every day she’s trying, is a good day. She's resting here, but fluffy and dry, and the water on her tummy seems much less today

She’s still not feeding herself yet, BUT she’s up and wandering around when she’s not napping. This is a good sign she’s improving

I did put marbles in her dish, but she fell into it and thrashed, still soaking herself from flailing

Help for a very special baby 🐣

She was born on Monday, the 14th. She was a day 19 hatch, so two days early, and there was a lot of vessels still in her shell when she hatched. I actually wrapped her shell in moist paper towels, the night before, to slow her down, but she was determined to come out when she wanted. I’m...

Help for a very special baby 🐣

Long story short; my daughter Kerin had a very special chicken named Gohan, who was literally a pet. Her “baby”. After Kerin passed away last year (she had heart, liver, and kidney failure, and she was only 19), Gohan was left in my care, along with Kerins other 20 or so chickens 🐓 and one...

Official BYC Poll: How Long Have You Been Raising Chickens?

Well, it all started when my parents bought a chicken farm in Hiram Maine, in 1975, i was 3 years old, and then we got chickens. The first year we started small and only had a dozen or so, but then we got more, till we ended up with well over 200, which I thought was great, till I realized that...

Cashews? Are they safe for my chickens?

I do give the fish, chicken, turkey, and lean beef. Essentially anything we eat, they eat (minus pork and fatty foods). I also mentioned, perhaps you missed it, that they get a nice high quality meal, mash, or grain, before getting scraps, and they only get the scraps, when the grain feed is...

Cashews? Are they safe for my chickens?

I feed my chickens a variety of table scraps (essentially anything we eat, minus fats) almost every day. I feed grain and mash in the morning, and a batch of veggie clippings, skins, leftovers, etc. in the afternoon, after all their grain is gone. There are a few foods I know they aren’t...

Pigeons vs Ringneck Doves as Indoor Pets

I have pigeons and ringneck doves. In my opinion; if you want an affectionate pet, get just one, and spend time with it, if you want to breed them but don’t care about handling so much, get a pair. It’s been my experience, they will choose another of their own, over a human, when given the choice.
