Well, I was given a rooster, I already have a bunch i dont need and was going to process them soon, but hes very pretty and was free from the neighbor. I have him seperated right now (Hes also apparently very good at crowing) Hes much older than my other roosters. I'm afraid to put him in with...
Only one of the roosters (the alpha) has started to mate with the hens so far. I havent seen any of the other ones attempting it yet. but i'll Keep the dominant rooster and freezer camp the rest, but i'm having a hard time finding a place that will process them for me. My friend wont be able to...
Well, the extra roosters tend to just sit in the coop on the roost as well with the hens. But getting rid of them will then cause the rooster to accept the hens and not chase them back inside? Are you saying the hens are all the other roosters girls? How can that be with the one rooster being...
So when i let my chickens out in the morning, Two of the roosters will go out into the run, and than if the hens or other roosters try to go out into the run, they are chased back inside onto the roost by the roosters, Unfortunatly the one rooster whos the dominant one is the sweetest rooster i...
Ah, just wondering, why does it have much smaller legs and feet than the others, and hasnt developed the same long, curving tail feathers the other birds have? I acquired them all at the same time.

What Gender is this chicken? I think its a hen, and also what breed is it? I am wondering because it wont stop crowing! None of the other roosters, who are much more developed and definetly roosters, are crowing as much as this chicken. Please help.
So far here is the progress of my chicken coop, It's 8 foot by 8 foot with an 8 foot ceiling thats slanted to 7 foot left to right.. The nesting boxes are going to be on the front side with a window that i picked up (5'W by 3'H) Thats going to be right above the nesting boxes, which are going to...
What is a good size i should build my coop to be then? I didnt expect it to have to be much larger than 8ft by 8ft. But if im gonna build it i want to do it once.
I have planned to make the nesting boxes on the outside of the coop, so i can lift a flap and harvest eggs. It wont cut into the interior size of the coop. So hopefully i dont run out of too much space, with two hanging feeders/waterers.
I was wondering if an 8x8 foot coop be good enough for 13 chickens? orphingtons/australorps/dominiques. I will be building them a small run as well as letting them free range from time to time so they will only really be in the coop at night or when its severe weather outside.
I've noticed my baby chicks will sometime fly at eachother, and somewhat dive bombing, almost looking like they are challenging eachother, what is going on here? Are these early signs of a rooster? Also i have about what looks like 2 week old chicks, I want to get a few more soon, but will...
