    GREEN DIARHEA, purple comb

I have a 1 year old mix breed hen who is very lethargic and weak. This morning I found her with her face and comb dark purple and when I pulled her out of the coop she had an explosion of green diarrhea. I quarantined her and am trying to get fluids into her. What could this be and what do I...

    Chicken panting

Yes. I’m in central GA. It’s been pretty warm and humid the last few days. I was thinking that may be the cause, but wanted to make sure there isn’t something I’m not thinking of.

    Chicken panting

Crop feels normal. Poop looks completely normal as well.

    Chicken panting

Any ideas on what could be causing my Olive egger hen to pant like this? I noticed it yesterday, but figured it was just the heat. However, she was still doing it this morning when it was cool. She’s been broody and hatched 7 chicks 5 weeks ago. She and her chicks are free range when I’m home...

    Need mobile Duck coop ideas

We have had chickens for quite a while now. We house them in a chicken tractor at night, but free range during the day. I’m needing ideas for a similar setup for ducks. I’m new to ducks, so I feel like there’s a lot I need to learn. Do they need protection from predators as much as chickens? As...

    New onset bullying

At this point I have her free ranging, and she couldn't be happier. We have a large property with lots of woods and underbrush. I'm considering letting her be our yard chicken, bring her in at night and otherwise allowing her to live her life as she wishes.

    New onset bullying

Thank you! We have a large movable coop and portable fencing to give them a large foraging area. Everything gets moved to fresh ground several times a week. I have two feeding stations with enough space for three chickens at each, but they are both in the main coop. I will try adding another...

    New onset bullying

I've temporarily separated her from the rest of the flock so I can watch her for a week or two and make sure she isn't ill. Hopefully that's not the issue and I can figure out how assimilate her back in. She spent the evening following me around the yard and happily scratching in the garden. She...

    New onset bullying

My flock is about a year old. All the same age and have been getting along great. Yesterday I noticed the rooster and some of the hens harassing anyone of the black stars. I broke it up, but it happened again today and she ended up flying over the fence. So I just let her free range for the day...

    Sick Hen Help

Sorry! I'm just seeing this. I'm pretty sure it was sour crop. I withheld food and only gave water with diluted ACV for 24 hours until her crop no longer felt boggy. Then gave her greek yogurt and oregano (antibiotic/antiviral) for another 24 hours and she recovered well.

    Sick Hen Help

It’s not large or hard, but on closer inspection it does feel “watery” as if it has liquid in it. When my husband was hold her with her head slightly down earlier, I did notice some clear liquid dripped from her beak but she had just been drinking so I didn’t think much of it.

    Sick Hen Help

I have an 8 month old Colombian Wyandotte that is acting sickly. Yesterday, I noticed she didn’t really want to leave the coop, but I assumed she was wanting to lay, so I left her alone. This morning she was lying in the run. She got up and started eating the kitchen scraps I threw in, but moves...

    Bullying

I don’t take you as a spoil sport at all. I truly appreciate the criticism. If you were in my shoes, how would you remedy the issue of needing to leave. So you think it would be enough to keep the predators at bay if I would have my neighbor come over once a day to check feed and water and just...

    Bullying

I don’t doubt that it would be better to have more space. I’m hoping we can build another coop soon. We really did not intend to have this many chickens when we built this one. One question you may be able to answer is, do you think they will return to the coop to lay if they are out ranging...
