I can fully separate the lump from the thigh. It’s about 4-5” long, 3-4” wide and 1” thick. I would never have found it if I hadn’t picked her up because she’s acting completely normal. Also it’s above the knee joint.
Here’s what I was able to get for pics. The first one is showing my hand wrapped around it (the thigh is under my fingers. The second is a pick on how thick it is. The third is another pic on how thick it is. And the last is another angle of how big it is. The leg in all pics are under the...
Is it possible for a hen to have bumblefoot in her thigh? While picking up one of the hens, I felt a hardened area in the thigh. It’s quite large, pretty much takes up the whole thigh area and is flattened. I checked under her feathers and there’s no sign of inflammation or scabbing. She’s not...
Thank you for your help. I thought I would put out an update. I started the ducks and ducklings on pumpkin mixed in their food and that seems to have done most of the trick. I also caught a dang snapping turtle trying to drown a duckling and it left no marks. So I’ve been work on catching them...
I have them on the 24% chick feed for ducks. But it seems that they’re getting more of the flock feed because that’s where their mommas are taking them to eat.
What would cause Muscovy ducklings to suddenly die? I have 3 hens that hatched out 30 ducklings in total over the past 3 weeks. I know that the drake had killed the first 3 of the 12 because I caught him trying to kill a 4th. But now in the past 4 days, I’ve found 8 ducklings dead, 2 were found...
I have a couple broody hens. It’s a real good possibility that one of them did hide a couple egg and bring it to the nesting boxes. Temp has been a steady 99.6 with humidity of 49 to 55%.
This is the first time I’ve had a chick hatch a this early. I only found out it hatched because I was...
This is a first for me. I’m on day 13 of incubation and one chick just popped out. I know I need to let it dry but with the rocker still in is it safe to leave it in the incubator? It’s very active and strong. Need advice ASAP.
Sorry to hear that you're still having trouble getting the duck out of the pond. I don't know if you've tried this, but you can try calling the DNR and see if they'll be willing to help you or give you ideas. I know the DNR around here in Wisconsin are more than willing to help.
Hopefully the...
Update: unfortunately my friend's duck that I just started treating passed away last night at 11pm right after I got home from work. I suspect she had an obstructed gizzard. I'm waiting for the okay from her to do a necropsy. I didn't have the heart to tell her today as it being Christmas.
I...
