Red Hen's Eggs Getting Lighter---Showing Signs of Weight Loss. Sickne?

One of our red hen's (red star, mixed linage) eggs are getting lighter each time she lays. This is unusual, because she's a young bird (only a year or so) and has until now laid dark eggs. The difference has been very noticeable. Also, she has been showing signs of weight loss. Thin breast...

12+ Rare Blue Marans, NPIP & AI

This are some very beautiful birds! I am pretty interested in getting them; do you have any pictures of the eggs, or more of the birds? I would greatly appreciate it if you could post them! Also, if you ship this Saturday, how old will the eggs be on average? I'd love to maximize hatching...

Hatching Eggs---Will The Medication Harm Them?

We've been treating our chickens with BMD soluble, which is pretty much penicillin, for enteritis. I was going to hatch a couple eggs from our flock, and am wondering if the medication will have any effect on either the fertility of the eggs, or cause any deformations in the chicks. Any input...

Chickens Very Sick. Not Responding to Medicine. Best Way to Cull?

We last introduced new chickens into the flock a couple months ago, and got them from a friend who had no history of disease---but it's very likely. I'll be sure to look Mareks up. I have checked them for that, and have found no signs at all. Will check again.

Chickens Very Sick. Not Responding to Medicine. Best Way to Cull?

Thank you for the suggestion, it's really appreciated. The problem is, they take the medicine, but are not responding to it. It's quite frustrating.

Chickens Very Sick. Not Responding to Medicine. Best Way to Cull?

Okay thank you. I cannot think of any poison...so unless they have found something deep in the woods, it is unlikely. But I never considered that. Mostly just DE, which has worked for our family multipliable times in the past.

Chickens Very Sick. Not Responding to Medicine. Best Way to Cull?

Hi everybody; okay, so my chickens are sick. I have no idea how they got to be so bad, because they live in perfect conditions. They free-range, get clean water and coops, are far from being overcrowded, and get a wide variety of feed, grasses, and bugs. Our chickens aren't laying, is the first...
