After 6 months, something finally got most of my chickens. Who dun it?

Chicken run: 4 ft wide hardware cloth on the bottom that is aproned at the bottom. Deer netting across the top to deter birds. Chicken wire on the upper portion. Saturday night attack: I forgot to lock them up. There were feathers all over the yard of each kind of chicken I have but it turned...

Can chickens sit on eggs too long?

I have 9 chickens and my little Silkie bantam is the only one that ever really sits on an egg. I haven't seen her move from her nesting box in 3 days. Surely she's eating and drinking? I check on my chickens quite often and she's never out in the run any more. Should I be concerned? Should I...

    Deep Litter Method and gardening?

Hey all! I have a 15 x 20 foot chicken run with layers of pine shavings on top of dirt. I add new shavings every week or two. I built the chicken run about 2 months ago. I'd like to keep adding shavings and do the deep litter method for 1 year and use the compost in my garden. Here's what I need...

I'm not quite done yet...I have a lot of aesthetic and automated things to do to it still but this is pretty much the run:

Will it be safe to attach hardware cloth on the inside in sections?

I see a lot of people wrap their hardware and poultry cloth around the entire run. Here's a picture of my run: http://imgur.com/MisM8mZ and I'm about to attach hardware cloth. I want it to be aesthetically pleasing and not bow in and out from the attached 2x4. I'm thinking about attaching it...

Help me decide which stain to use on my chicken coop stand :) Picture included

I think staining the stand like the rest of the run would just be too much cedar color. If you were building this, what color would you stain the stand? (The chicken coop is the snaplock chicken coop gray/tan colored)

Attaching poultry wire with deck screws and washers?

I bought a ton of screws and washers for my hardware cloth on the bottom 4 feet of my run. I have a lot left over and I'm just checking to see if there's any downside to attaching the chicken wire up top the same way? I've seen a lot of recommendations of using poultry staples but not screws.

How to keep deer netting from sagging?

Would staple gunning the deer netting to the middle 4x4 be sufficient enough?

Will a 42" x 6 Ft Metal gate work as a chicken run door? Any plans on wooden doors?

I have a 15' x 20' chicken run and I'm stumped by what kind of door I should have and how to make it fully predator proof. I have a chicken coop that will be inside the run that is 39" wide so I need it at least 39" for the option of getting it out of the run. The run will have ten 4x4 posts...

How to keep deer netting from sagging?

I have a 15' x 20' run with 10 4x4 posts around the perimeter. I will be putting all hardware cloth on the sides and deer netting over the top. Should I put two 4x4 beams in the middle of the run? How can I prevent the net from sagging? Thanks!

What kind of screw and washer should I use to attach hardware cloth?

I'm attaching 1/2" hardware cloth to 4x4 and 2x4 treated lumber. Are there different sizes and types? Thanks!

Will my 5 week old chicks be ok?

I have 15 chickens (RIR, Barred Rocks, and 2 silkies) that I've kept in my spare bedroom for the past 5 weeks. I'm not quite finished with my chicken pen/run but I couldn't keep them inside any more. All 7 of the Barred Rocks and 1 silkie kept escaping and relaxing all over the room. The dust...
