    Deep Cleaning Water Container

I hadn’t thought about white vinegar. A good vinegar scrub, and hose out would probably be sufficient.

    Deep Cleaning Water Container

Too big for the dishwasher, but I think I have a good scrub brush in hand I can use.

Ok, great. That’s the same thought I had, glad to have a second opinion. Thanks!

    Deep Cleaning Water Container

Hi all! I was given a second-hand five gallon water container for my flock. It hasn’t been used in a while and needs a good cleaning. See pic. Any suggestions on how to safely clean this thing out? TIA!

What kind of fruit/veggie bud is this?

Yup, that will be tomorrow mornings project! Fortunately, I have green grapes. Apparently pokeberry looks just like purple grapes. Thank you both for your input.

Oh that’s interesting. And toxic from what I recall.

What kind of fruit/veggie bud is this?

I have an area in my yard with blackberries and grapes. I didn’t clean it out or trim anything this year and this “new” thing is budding between everything else. Can anyone tell me what I’m looking at?

Lost two hens, bloody vents (graphic images)

We do have predators around, but there’s no sign of predation. The hens have a large run and are allowed out in the yard if we are present. And thinking back, one of the hens did have a small amount of blood on her face when I found the first dead bird. But I had not seen that before finding the...

Lost two hens, bloody vents (graphic images)

No indication of broken egg shells. And they’ve been laying consistently one egg each a day. But I suppose I can’t rule that out yet.

Lost two hens, bloody vents (graphic images)

Hi all. We recently lost two amberlink hens and looking for any insight. One died two days ago and the other today. Both with bloody vents but today, the hens vent was wide open. All of my birds have been behaving active and healthy, eating and drinking, so I’m at a bit of a loss. The only...

Three Days, Three Dead Birds, Looking for Advice

Day 7 of treatment! The girls seem to be doing well, and very active. The one sickly looking bird is doing better but here comb hasn’t quite bounced back yet. Today should be their last day of meds and I’m hoping as they continue recovering, they start laying eggs again quickly!

Three Days, Three Dead Birds, Looking for Advice

Day 5 of treatment. The birds are doing well. My most sickly girl is still showing a floppy comb but has been much more active. Egg production has been way down, and I know that’s a result of the illness (and loss of four birds) but the girls are eating more and seem to be drinking plenty of...

Three Days, Three Dead Birds, Looking for Advice

Treatment Day 2 Update The birds all made it through the day! In fact, the very sickly hen was even a bit more active this afternoon, going out and scratching around the yard. 2nd dose of Corid and hopeful we are going to make progress.

Three Days, Three Dead Birds, Looking for Advice

Day 4 of symptoms, Day 1 of treatment. First, one question. I've been digging on here but keep finding mixed, and old, answers. --- Eggs and Corid: eat them, wait for the bird to purge the treatment, or never again? UPDATE: One more hen died today, and one looks very ill. No visible signs of...
