Issues with my Easter eggers! I have two Easter eggers in my flock of four chickens. I purchased them from the IFA on 21st South a year and a half ago (Feb 14, 2010), where they were selling them as "Ameraucanas." One has been intermittently laying large, strangely-shaped eggs ever since she...

As others have said, lots of raptors around here on the east bench of Cottonwood Heights. Rats are a nuisance, too. When I worked at the aviary in Liberty Park, we had a bad run with a large male bobcat - he ate lots of our birds over the course of several weeks before we finally...

Nothing down in Utah County as far as I know, but the Tour de Coops is expanding into the South Valley this year. It's been limited to the downtown/U of U/Sugar House area for the past couple years, but now they are looking for coops to tour that are south of 2700 South, too. There...
Tour de Coops is accepting applications for those who wish to show/show-off their chicken set-ups. There is a south valley tour this year, so they are excited to get Cottonwood Heights, Sandy, Draper, etc. chicken keepers on board. You can fill out an application and get tour info at...

I don't know about DE prices, but I've been to Steve Regan a couple times. Their prices were decent, but they were out of basic things I needed (food) both times I went. I got tired of wasting my gas and time trekking up there.
I've been really happy with CAL Ranch, and it's in...

I'm definitely glad that I modified the original plans. I just don't think I would have liked the coop at all if I had stuck to the plans.
My woulda coulda shoulda list for my altered coop:
- I wish I had put higher "stops" at the bottom of the door to the hen house so that I could...
She FINALLY laid today, at just over 34 weeks of age! Holy cow! I was hoping for a blue or green egg, but it was pink. I'm super thrilled that she's laying though, and celebrated that pink egg just as much as any other "first egg" I've gotten from my hens.
FINALLY got an egg from my EE hen - she's just over 34 weeks old! Thought she'd never lay! Was hoping for a green or blue egg, but it was pink. I'm thrilled nonetheless!
Yay Chicks! :
There's a thread on here somewhere with regard to how long it takes some EEs to lay. I think you are still in the ballpark.
I did a search for the info on BYC last night but couldn't find anything. I'll try again when I have more time today. Thanks!

I got her from IFA in Salt Lake City. I have no idea where they got them. She's a really pretty chicken, and I like her, so she'll be an important part of my little chicken flock whether or not she lays. Thanks for the reply.
I have three chickens that hatched in mid February. Two of them, a Easter egger and a Welsummer, started laying eggs at the end of July. My third chicken, another Easter egger, hasn't laid a single egg yet. She is at the bottom of the pecking order, but gets along with the others and isn't...
