We turned her back to the flock today. They are out free ranging so all kind of spread out. They saw her, she saw them. She wandered into the coop and is just kind of hanging out. She seems slow, cautious. But she is eating, drinking, pooping and wide eyed and bushy tailed. Posture is normal...
@Wyorp Rock
-About 4 years old
-Light molt last month
-crop and all along the front of her neck feels normal. Or don't feel any overpacked spots at least.
-All along the belly and backside it feels pretty firm (I did have another chicken pass from some kind of organ failure that caused rear end...
Found our Rhode Island Red "Red" (not very imaginative, I know) laying under the coop doing the drooping eyed head drop. Doors were open for free range time so her being here is very strange. Eventually, we sent our son in to scoop her out as she would not be moved otherwise. She moved a little...
Bare Leg passed away this week. She was sitting in a nesting box and seemed like she slept there. We separated her into the hospital coop with food, water and padding after some petting and soothing. She seemed like she had fallen asleep and a few hours later she passed. We buried her in the...
Good news! We had to return her to the flock to go out of town. Checked her out when we got back and appears at first glance that everything has returned to its correct place. Thanks for all the help and guidance! Just a fluffy pink butt running away because she doesn't want to be messed...
Still no luck. Yesterday I sat in the dark for about 15 minutes petting her back to sleep while holding her butt in the whole time. It’s back out of course.
Found this thread, the whiteness looks similar so that makes me feel better. Other than the white, everything is a nice healthy beefy red still. Might be the straining is her getting ready to try to lay an egg. Going to try some hemorrhoidal cream now.
Poor thing is in her hutch and straining and letting out a small whimper-squeak after doing so. She does a little squat like she is trying to poop but only a small amount of liquid oozes out. I am assuming it is urea. I am feeling a bit hopeless at this point. Especially if what we are...
she got to free range all day but she keeps picking at her butt. We soaked and scrubbed her for a long time. Some of this stuff is simply cemented to her colon and requires tearing away to actually remove. As we are wiping and attempting to remove it seems like she is urinating around it...
We have been putting nutridrench into her drinking water and her crumble is fortified. Along with some grit and oyster shell we placed in the hospital crate nothing more.
Picture #1 #4825 is the amount of protrusion this morning. The crusted urea is a real concern. I am worried about it essentially causing an impaction when we move the prolapse back in. But I also worry about damaging that sensitive tissue by attempting to remove it as chicken poop seems to...
Day 2 of chicken quarantine. She laid an egg. So that rules out any egg bounding. Wife reports swelling has improved some, but still prolapses. We are keeping it moist and she remains in the rabbit hutch quarantined. We are going to let her hop around the house or the outside alone to get...
