Bloated Abdomen

A few weeks have passed. At one point my son reported to me that her waddle was white and her face grey. She is a white chicken, but these reports were close to the truth when I inspected her. She had went to bed earlier than the other girls-likely weaker and struggling.

Move forward a week or two and better color has been returning to her waddle. He abdomen and hind end feel no different than the other chickens. Her activity is similar to the others as well which are all good signs.

I imagine this will likely be a recurring chronic issue over time but she condition has improved immensely and warrants less attention in my opinion now. Improvements seem to occur after we found a suspiciously small egg that had been laid. There have been no more smelly discharge found on any eggs as well. My hope is that she had been egg bound and time and removing the swelling had allowed her to eventually pass everything.

Fingers crossed.

Bare Leg passed away this week. She was sitting in a nesting box and seemed like she slept there. We separated her into the hospital coop with food, water and padding after some petting and soothing. She seemed like she had fallen asleep and a few hours later she passed. We buried her in the flower garden to help bring forth future growth. It was expected this would happen and appeared to be a very peaceful passing.

So sorry for your loss. :( :hugs
