I have about 10 RIR's that look and sound very mature. But they are only 5 months old! how old was one of your hens when she laid her first egg? Is it possible if some of my hens lay eggs at only 5 months or do they need to be oldder? When is the soonest a hen can lay an egg? Their earlobes...
yay! The more the better!! I geuss I'm the only one behind with setting my eggs. They just can't get here fast enough!
And Heather, they should be ok. My first time setting eggs the temp went to 41.1 degrees (106 F) and they still hatched out ok
i love buff orpingtons! i have two and I'm just in love with the breed. I'm sorry about half being infertile.
on a good note, my eggs were shipped yesterday and they should arrive tomorrow or the day after. I'm so excited
thanks for everyones input. Like i said, I know nothing about shows and SQ birds. I think ill give them a try. Once again thanks for helping me out and giving me some knowlage about shows
One of my friends gave me 6 little Polish chicks about a year ago, i think they turned out to be very pretty birds. But the problem is that i know nothing about Show quality birds. so what do you think? are they SQ?
i would like to show some of them.... So what do you think?
i have a few EE's and they all seem to fly to the very top of the coop at dusk and non of my other chickens do this. So I would say that they like to be far off the ground when they roost, they must feel safer.
