I installed a dog pen inside my coop to raise chicks. Putting a broody hen in with some new chicks and letting her raise them takes all the work out of it and she continues to protect them as they move into the flock.

Ok, My BCM eggs are form a new flock and most of the eggs are shinny and a dark chocolate color. However, a few are chalky and lighter in color. The chickens have only been laying for a couple months so this may be a new hen issue…that will become clearer as time goes by.
