Here's my coop and run.
The coop is a pre-built from TSC. My wife has been looking into chickens for a while, but I've just gotten onboard with it. The coop looked like what we need for now, if we added a second run. After reading up on chickens, I wish I'd built my own... but then, I can't...
I have one 5 gallon bucket with four horizontal nipples. I have six, five-week-olds, so I don't know how it's gonna do yet, but it's lasted three days now and still has lots left in it.
:(
The dog got one of our chicks, too. They were about a week old, so we got some new chicks that could go in the brooder with them. You could tell that the remaing two missed their flock mate. They're much happier now with the new chicks.
Both of my RIRs were skittish at first. Now (a week later) the one tolerates being picked up, and the other one will perch on my hand while I walk around.
Nugget (Easter Egger) died today. Doors got left open, and netting on the brooder got left off, and the dog got into them. The other two were all wet, but seem to be okay. :(
I found some at Walmart.com. Shipping wasn't free but even with that it came to under $100 (which reminds me, I need to order some tonight. Just picked up the lumber for the run today...)
