It has been a couple of months since I got my chicks, anyone want to guess what the all white chicken is? I ordered silver, brown laced and Columbian wyandottes. This one was thrown in I have no idea what it is but hope it is a female as I really like it
That happened to me a few years back, killed every one, never found the owners, after that I beefed up my fencing so it wouldn't happen again. I am sorry it happened to you
I put the chicks in the coop this am, I have the coop at 80 degrees, thanks to a heat lamp. I will open the door to the covered and enclosed run this afternoon once they get used to the coop. Tonight I will keep the lamp on and turn the milk house heater to low to make sure it stays at least...
3 of them are Columbian wyandottes which are supposed to like cool temps, the other 2 types are wyandottes, silver and black laced, They threw in 2 extras one is all yellow, probably a gold comet and the other one looks like a wyandotte
I have a milk house heater in there and could also bring the heat lamp that I used when they were chicks. I was planning on keeping them inside with the door to the covered run open, then at night putting them in the coop and turning on the heater
The girls are getting big and growing crowded in their brooder, They are 4 1/2 weeks old, Do you think they are big enough to go out in their outdoor coop. Low temps will be in mid 40's Highs will be in the 60's and 70's for the next 10 days.
I live in Wisconsin, It can get down to - 30 in the winter. The coop is draft free. I use a milk house heater on a shelf in my coop, It turns on automatically, I have it on a shelf, fastened with metal grate around it so it can't be knocked off. I have used it for about 4 winters. I know lots...
The Ladies are 3 weeks old today, to celebrate they got wood chips instead of paper towel. I am hoping to put them in the outdoor coop and covered run during memorial day weekend. I think they are feathering out nicely
