Incubator was on for 4-5 days before the eggs got here, kept it between 99.5-102 at the highest- I think there was a short spike of 104 at one point, couldn't have been more than half an hour, and a few times it went below to 95 or so. Humidity between 40%-60%, really sat around 50-52% most...
Hi guys! Big sad rant coming up!
This isn't my first rodeo hatching chicks, I've done it a handful of times with decent success! However this is my first time where I'm in a situation to keep some of the chicks instead of give them away- we moved more rural and lots of neighbors have chickens...
Yeah, she's scaring me pretty bad Hasn't gotten up in awhile, just let her gobble down a little sugar water, really hope it'll give her a little energy... breaths are all awkward and staggered.
Well, let's see if I can sleep tonight, and hope she's ok in the morning.
Just hatched three little buggers. The two biggest are running around and being very chicken-like, but the smallest has been more and more tired lately. I mean, she's always been less rambunctious, but she falls asleep where she stands pretty much everywhere now. I see her eat and drink, I make...
Oh, plenty, but Under The Lamp must be the new hip place to hang out, because unless they're grabbing some grub or water, they hang out almost directly under the light. I've got a mesh top, so there's ventilation.
It was higher than I had thought for awhile, but it's been pushed back to about 94 (it was handing around 99-100). She's drinking and eating fine, but she's got breathing issues or something because each breath is heavy and when she pants her mouth is open wider than usual. Ugggh worryyyy.
Thanks for the reply. These girls stick it out underneath the light no matter how i adjust it, and just don't want to hang out towards the lightless side. I'm using a plastic tub too, so perhaps i should poke some holes?
Ah, this little one worries me.
(this is a repost for this section, i want to get an answer asap)
I adjusted the light for the first-week-change (they're one week old as of a few hours from now), but one chick is panting her bottom off. If she's hot, she won't stop hanging out underneath the light, and she knows how to drink...
