The little exit door from coop to run (?)

I just used an old window, and flipped it so that the opener is on the bottom. It works great and locks closed plus it lets light in either way.

    Chicks and dogs

I was sooo mad at our dog. Sunday he got into the chicken run, and he killed one of my hens. I thought that he had killed another one, and a couple others were missing, but the one recovered and the others somehow got out in the chaos only to return out of the bushes a few hours later unharmed...

Light in the Coop at Night??

hmmm. my chickies only go into the coop when it starts to get dark. I don't have a light in there so by the time they're settled its darker in the coop than out.

    HELP! leaking!

find out where it's leaking first. is it leaking through the screw holes or at the joints or at the ridge cap?

The coop is almost ready for the chicks!

Your right! Looks sortof like mine... very nice. Yours looks a little more sophisticated than mine though. Mine's all just scraps and recycled stuff nailed together.

    Ramp questions

I didn't even put rails on mine and the chickens don't seem to have any problems.

How do I fix water problem?

i've noticed some people mention that they have multiple waterers. Is it important to have a water source outside as well as inside?

    introducing new chicks to coop

ok, i've seperated them with chicken wire and given each group their own food and water. i'll leave them like that for a few days and see what happens. i've actually left a small opening for the smaller ones to go back and forth if they want to.

    Cold Babies/ Update

on another post someone said that you should lock them in the coop for several days before you let them out. that way they know it's home. have you tried locking them up for some time first? if so just ignore what i said.

    Probably should have thought first...

as long as they can't reach it to peck it, they should be fine i'd say.
