    Duck can't walk

About a month ago, our duck seemed to have a broken leg. She couldn't walk at all, and it was very definitely one leg that was hurting. Although, we couldn't find a specific break or injury. She slowly got better and went from unable to walk, to an awful limp, to almost normal again. Then, a few...

    Making a duck leash?

I have found some for sale online, but could anyone help us with how to make our own harness and leash for a duck? Thanks!

    Duck ate a rat?!?!

Catching rats has become normal for her. But just now she caught a sparrow! I was glad that it got away quickly. It's funny because this duck is our one with a sweet personality. She acts like a little dog with us, and we have to protect her from the other ducks. And apparently she's a bird of...

    Duck ate a rat?!?!

She's killed two more since then. One was too big to swallow, so she gave it up for treats from us. I'm amazed. This little duck is better than a cat!

    Duck ate a rat?!?!

They're just "plain ducks." They look like this: http://meatinfo.ru/data/images/14903/_%D1%87%D0%B5%D1%80%D0%BD%D0%B0%D1%8F%20-%20%D0%B1%D0%B5%D0%BB%D0%BE%D0%B3%D1%80%D1%83%D0%B4%D0%B0%D1%8F1.jpg

    Duck ate a rat?!?!

Thank you. No, there isn't any poison around. (Muscovies are huge? Maybe mine isn't a muscovy then? She's the one in my photo here. She's only about half the size of our other ducks.)

    Duck ate a rat?!?!

We have been having a problem with rats in our duck yard. Just now my muscovy caught and ate one! Is she going to be okay? She swallowed it whole! She was walking around with it hanging from her beak, and we were going to take it away, but then... gulp. Has anyone else ever seen anything like this?

    Eggs

I think laying in the other spot was just because she was upset by a storm that night, and didn't want to come out of hiding. She's continuing to lay in her usual nest, and I'm taking the egg away every morning. Not leaving them isn't stopping her. Thanks for making me brave enough to go...

    Eggs

We have one female muscovy, who is laying eggs. Our neighbour said that we always need to leave one of the eggs in her nest, so that she'll keep laying. Is that true? Today she left her egg in a different spot, and she doesn't sit on them anyway. Can we just collect the egg each morning?

    Ducks laying eggs

She was very fluffy and chirpy, but never standoffish. We went away for a week, and the neighbors who took care of her rearranged her nest, which is what I think probably upset her. Or it was just that we were gone. Also, they didn't let her out to roam. But we've been back for a week now. She's...

    Ducks laying eggs

What do I need to know about keeping ducks for eggs? Really, I know nothing. We were so excited when our Muscovy started laying! She gave us 9 eggs, and now that appears to be all. I kind of thought that once she started, we'd be getting eggs for a while. No?

    Male or female?

We have three Ukrainian ducks. Or some people around here call them natural ducks. They come in different colours, and all three of ours are different. Last time I mentioned them here, this breed seemed to be a mystery, but can anyone guess at how to tell them apart? We have one bigger, louder...

    Training ducks

I just read this article about training chickens, and it made me curious: how smart are ducks? What can they learn? Mine already come when I call.

    Duckling can't walk

I think it's going to be okay! We got poultry starter and some chicken vitamins. I don't know if that is helping, or if the injury is just healing. The duckling is able to stand for short period of time now and can even walk (hobble) after long rest periods. When he gets tired, he still just...

    Duckling can't walk

Hmm. I will try to look for those things. We might not have quite as many options here, as in other countries. They're not outside yet. They just eat weeds when we bring them in for them. We're thinking that maybe this baby is injured, not sick? We still can't see an injury, but it's more...
