I forgot to feed the chickens...

I don't need to fill my feeder very often, but last week I went out and found it empty. It may ahve been empty for a day or two, in which time they would have had some scratch grain thrown at them. Since then only one of my four chickens has been laying and as recently as two weeks ago I was...

Also, to clarify, in most parts of the country they cannot be kept outside year round.

Do you have a compost pile? Please post pics

Since the vernacular nomenclature is likely different in the tackle industry there is a good chance they are not the same thing. In fact, when you google "red wiggler" you see hits for fishing lures. It would be worth a try, but I think you'd be better to ask high-end nurseries or order them...

Red wigglers are very different from "garden worms". Red wigglers (Eisenia fetida) are epigeic worms. They will not live in a soil environment.

Quote: No. There are worms specifically used for vermicomposting. The most common ones are "reg wigglers", which are the ones I use, but there are others. If you google "vermicompost" you'll find more than you want to know.

Building a coop - Window suggestions?

I made mine out of acrylic sheeting (no glass to break). I just made a frame and cut a 1/8 dado in the middle of all the pieces, then assembled them around acrylic sheet (which I can cut on the table saw), tacked and glued. The "sash" is hinged to a frame on the outside of the OSB wall and...

    attaching corrugated roofing

What is this radiant barrier? The roof will be west-facing and it does get hot here. Frankly, I had not given it much thought. Can you expound on your recommendation? Thanks.

    attaching corrugated roofing

Another thing--I was going to put a coat or marine enamel under the metal (on the osb before attaching). Is this superfluous? I have a tendency to overbuild everything.
