Well, technically I'm from Manvel which is just south of Houston. It's kinda rural. Lots of cows, horses, chickens, guineas. I just put Houston on my profile b/c I figured nobody would know where Manvel was.
I took the girls out today for about 30 minutes. I made a little makeshift fence and sat with them. They seemed a bit overwhelmed but did peck around a bit. The Reds are getting their wing feathers faster than the rest and caught some air today (about an inch).
So this is one of the "assorted pullets" I received from Ideal. She's got leg feathers. I'm thinking Brahma. She is definitely the friendliest and bravest of the bunch.
Thanks:D I'd wanted a black austrolorp since they are supposed to be good layers in the heat! They were supposedly sold out when I ordered. I wonder how that works at the hatchery. Maybe sometimes more hatch than you expect.

The hand belongs to my toddler who is helpfully pointing out the poop:lol:
Thanks everyone. I'd be thrilled to have a Buff Orp. They were supposedly sold out when I ordered.
Hi, I'm new here. I just got 10 (supposed -to-be) pullets from Ideal. 2 barred rock, 2 production reds, 2 Ameracauna, and 4 surprise assorted pullets. Out of the surprises I have 1 Red and 3 Not-Sures. The first is a black chick w/ grey/white undercarriage:
Any ideas? I was thinking Black...
