    The breeding was successful. She went in for an x-ray and exam. She is expecting 8-9 puppies. She is due around September 8th. We will be keeping one puppy for us and have homes lined up for 2-3 more. I will need to find homes for the rest. I will continue to update this thread.

    Update: My girl's heat ended about a week after her first mating, her and the boy locked up about 3-4 times, with 3 days in between her 1st and 2nd matings. Her heat usually lasts a week longer, so I have high hopes. She's been eating smaller meals and shows some signs of nausea.

    So update, doctor said to wait one more cycle, so we will. The male isn't mature enough to mate her while she's in heat right now anyways. She stayed with family for half of her heat and the male hasn't tried to mount. They are always under supervision. Her next heat should be around July...

    I had a buff orpington rooster over rhode island red hens this year. The chicks hatch dark orange with black spots. They look like this older. And this is them as teenagers (the reds not whites)

    Yeah thats what the upcoming visit is for. If doc says she isn't ready this heat and I notice that the male is starting to court she's gonna go stay with my husband's sister at night after her bleeding.
