:)
The breeder has Muscovy ducks too but I don’t really like the way Muscovy ducks act, at least the ones he had...

I can't stand muskovy ducks at all. They are aggressive and on average look terribly ugly. I would probably get Smews, Silver Appleyards, or Saxony ducks if I get them again

They are UGLY! And just plain rude! The man was taking me on a tour of his ducks and such and such and I HATED the muscovies!! (No offense to people who do like them)

All the drakes I've ever had in that breed all attacked me and the hens were very pecky and weary of people. Buff Ducks and Black Swedish ducks were great. Calls are very good ducks though

Geez those Muscovy ducks! I wa about to ask him if we could skip the muscovies!! I hope I like calls. They’re super cute and seemed very sweet!

You'll most likely like them. They should be pretty easy to raise if you live in a warm climax. Up here in Northern Canada I need to oil heat barns to keep small animals warm

It’s pretty warm. At the lowest winters are 35F but I could add artificial heat if needed though I don’t think I’ll have to.
BlackHackle
BlackHackle
Nah that's great weather. Where I am we get -40 so that's nothing lol

Wow! I need to go to Canada! I LOVE winter, maybe because we don’t get a lot of it!! :) I can’t wait for my ducklings!! I’ve already been doing research so i can be prepared. :)

I really love the winter time. It's just great, besides the cold of course.

You'll be ready I bet by the time you get the ducklings. I normally buy the birds then do my research lol

I did that about 4 years ago when I bought my first baby chicks... No heat lamp, outside during winter, a BOWL for water... came out to check on them the next morning and saw 6 dead floating baby chicks, I don’t think I’ve ever cried so hard after that.

Yea, it's not a good idea at all. It has a high rate of negative consequences but I've been raising birds since I was 7 so I just sorta apply what I know. I'm right 80% of the time lol
HuffleClaw
HuffleClaw
*tears up* At least they sent replacements, right?
BlackHackle
BlackHackle
That's nice of them

I know right? I was such a dummy! Know I raise about 10-20 chicks per year! I think I’ve learned my lesson.
BlackHackle
BlackHackle
Yup. At least I've learnt to heat chicks from my dad who also raised poultry. I raise about 200+ chicks a year
HuffleClaw
HuffleClaw
I WANT 200+ a YEAR!!!!
BlackHackle
BlackHackle
Believe me, it gets chaotic lol
HuffleClaw
HuffleClaw
I love the chaoticness (probably not a real word) of BABY CHICKS!!!!!
BlackHackle
BlackHackle
Even when they are so tame you are almost stepping on them all the time? lol
