Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do. 
I have a mixed hen who is a year old who occasionally lays a second egg later on the same day. It's a soft skinned egg. She seems healthy and active. She is also rooster's favorite girl to alert to treats. Any thoughts? I know it's her as she is the only one who lays brown eggs. The others are green and blue.
