  • finally had success with my 4 wk olds roosting. New mom didn’t want to roost and only wanted to sleep in nesting box with the littles. I made the decision for her. Closed off nesting box and the coop …took 2 nights but all is well. They all went in and put themselves up last night.

The chicks are about 10 weeks, decided they wanted to sleep in the nesting box. I had read that this was not a good idea, that you wanted them to roost at night. I closed off the nesting box and they weren't happy about it. One of them was settled on the roosting bars and I'm hoping the others followed suit. I just wanted to confirm that I am doing the right thing. And if so, when do I re-
    open the nesting box?
