  • It's hard to believe the changes specifically the goodbyes in the past two years. June 27th, 2023 we said goodbye to our beautiful old Cattle Dog girl Dixie. It still hurts a lot to lose such an important part of everything, who was just there for every moment and the sweetest baby. Continued V

Shortly before her loss we rescued an elderly cat who was in poor shape. He was starting to look up and was such an amazing and sweet boy, but Munchie passed suddenly also on October 9th, 2023. 2024 was a positive one and things were well.

But August 26th, 2025 brought the loss of Chicken Hawk our 8 year old baby. I said to myself unless some other crazy situation like Wally ever happens again, Chicken Hawk would be my last chicken. She was with us long enough to help the turkeys and ducks grow up - teaching them the "pecking order" and how to be watchful and strong. How to love people and to behave.

I know it seems sad but I leave these dates here because to me it is important to remember our sweet hearts and to say thank you for all their love and the light they brought to us. I have been a part of BYC for a long time it seems now and so much has changed for us, but I will always hold our sweet animals in my heart. Here is to many more years for the animals we have now. And to the memory of our other friends.
Wow, I apparently received a new "trophy" to celebrate now being a member here for 9 years on April 24th, amazing. I can't believe it has been so long!
Wow, a lot happening this year. We lost our sweet Tater in July, but a few months later Wally celebrated 2 years here with us since rescue. I am glad the other hens accepted her in after she lost her friend. He was so kind to her, and protective of her. He loved her very much, and they helped eachother heal. Thank you my po'Tates for being such a good boy.
With a heavy heart, I update as a reminder to myself that our oldest pup passed away yesterday morning at nearly 13 years old. Will miss you old man.

Thank you for the condolences. As with all things, life finds a way, and when one sweetie leaves us we have more find us in need. Shortly before this, we had our rescue feral kitty show up. The day he passed, it was the first time she ever got in my lap and since that day she's been a big comfort. ❤️
Very thankful for the rain as of late. Hoping the garden does well though high wind took some corn. Hoping those in other parts find cooler temps and some rain!
