Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do. 
I raise 5 Cornish X at a time. They don't roost like other chickens. I put them outside at 2 weeks old and give them light for comfort for another week or sometimes two. I also let them out to forage but they don't go far.
