  • As long as they have enough space to breathe in the air cell, it should be fine. If the air cell is too big, this can mean the chick dehydrated and may be very small at hatch. If the cell is too small then there is no room to breathe. You want to see fog on your window in the incubator. If you don't see it during pipping, you don't have enough humidity for hatching.
    In your humidity, dry hatches work ok. Have you candled lately? If the air cell looks normal then the humidity was just fine throughout the cycle. However you will need to add humidity for hatching. Humidity helps to soften the egg shells so they can zip out and it keeps the chick from sticking to the inside of the shell during pipping.
