Reviews by Callender Girl

Pros: There are a variety of sizes, style and difficulty levels in this book, along with some basic information on how to do things, i.e., choosing building materials, estimating coop size, using various tools.
Cons: None
This book made me feel I could actually BUILD a coop. Early chapters focus on choosing materials and basic construction -- really basic -- such as measuring and marking, cutting notches and making joints, along with information on tool essentials.

Although I haven't built an entire coop, I have used information from the book to help me modify some of my existing coops.

It covers space requirements, coop materials, predator protection and has drawing and color photos throughout. Plans are rated by difficulty and range from a two-hen coop to a container coop that will house 20 hens. There are tool and material lists on each of the 14 designs.

This book is visually wonderful and shows how much creativity can go into coop-making.
