We only have one hen that hasn’t shown any symptoms at all and assume she is at the very least a carrier. We wont be adding any young ones until our ladies have all passed and we’ve disinfected everything.
Hello. We had one of our hens pass today. We had been keeping an eye on her, not because she was acting I’ll or unusual, just that she laid all winter long (MN USA) and then stopped as soon as the other 5 hens started to lay again. Unfortunately, she’s not one that lets us get too near her so I...
Also adding she does not have bumblefoot. It’s dirt. All of the dark spots are from her pooping in a kennel before bedding was put down. She’s had her feet cleaned, everything came off.
I posted not long ago, here’s the link to that: Thread 'Cloudy Eye and Egg binding'

Earlier this fall she was looking like she was having a weird molt. But she continues to have roughed up feathers, breakage...
The frostbite is due to her not sitting last night. Otherwise, yes, they’re on 2x4’s for roosts with wood trays under that (I dump in the compost weekly) and a very generous amount of bedding on the floor of the coop, which I actually just changed out about a month ago.
They (6 hens) are on...
I think she definitely got some frostbite on her right foot last night from now covering her feet overnight (our black Sumatra may have been resting on her left foot…) she’s not putting pressure on her right foot either and it has swelling.
I got a blurryish pic of her eye and looking at a...
One of our 9mo hens seems to have broken an egg inside. Yesterday she spent all day on the roost, standing, with her bottom tucked downwards. Under her was a glob that looked like egg whites & yolk, no obvious shell though. We haven’t noticed any previous issues with laying although all of our...
I debated between chicken behaviors and managing your flock, still not sure where this belongs!
I have a hen with broken and roughed up neck & head feathers. No skin injuries, just feathers. Her saddle feathers are also roughed up, but not as bad.
Two of my other hens also have roughed up...
I have not. If I can, I will. They are very cautious and don’t come near us humans as much as the other chickens. This was actually the first time she’s gotten close to me since she was a chick!
Hello!
Both of my Salmon Faverolles do this. I have 12 chickens total, 2 are SF’s. I’ve had other chickens in the past (no SF) and have not seen this behavior in any of the chickens I’ve ever owned. Only the Faverolles. I have had other bearded breeds too that did not do this. What’s up?!
She’s been 100% health wise. Does all the normal chicken things. Doesn’t have any balance issues either. She’s a Hamburg, so she gets good height and distance when she flies. She’ll pull her wings up every once in awhile, but then drops them again. But yeah, eats, drinks, poops, roosts, flies...
