Breed Information, Comments, and Experience with breed:
I acquired 1 Silkie chicken on April 4, 2010. He/she is now almost a month old and I will continue to update with photos. So far my research has found that Silkies originate from Asia. They have been around...

I completely agree. I don't think he's got more than a few ounces of meat on him though - it'd be more work than it's worth. That, and mmm, well, I'm a vegetarian - or ovo-lacto-vegetarian pescetarian. ( I don't eat mammals/poultry ) But I have nothing against others who do -...
"Chicken.Lytle]Haze the rooster. Follow him at a speed walk pace for a period of time. Enough to freak him out and worry about you. Think what it would be like if a black SUV followed you everywhere while you tried to evade it."
I tried the speed walking thing last night. It seems like if I...
I'm not sure I can do chicken and dumplings; water pistol - the water hose more like it and it works for 1 day only. But it does get tiresome having to be "armed" at all times in my own backyard. So chicken and dumplings sounds more better if I had someone to do the dish.

My frizzles are cochins - don't give up hope. One of my roos is wonderful, has never even danced by me, let alone flog. I think they are all individuals expect silkies which always seem the most...
I have 6 living peaceably together (with other hens in addition) so far...marans, hamburgs, frizzles...they can change though...no guarantees. the more room the better...
Trying to make myself feel better & make my roo's attacks pale in comparison.....Don't take this too seriously, trying to laugh vs. cry at my chicken tales of woe.
Sometimes my Cayuga drake (duck) will come in and save me (quite literally, he's probably competing for a mate) - I wish we could train them (ducks) to be more consistent. He won't mess with a gigantic green duck. Thank god ducks have round beaks and can't flog - it'd be like a scene from that...
