Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I’m sorry, Alex. I hope she pulls through. I’ve had a terrible year with the chickens myself.

    Coop/Run Dilemma

Also, the fact that I’m suddenly having a bunch of deaths is also concerning, but that’s a separate issue.

    Coop/Run Dilemma

Greetings. I have an aging flock. I am down to just three hens, ages almost 10 to 5 1/2 years. Unfortunately, my oldest hen, Bridge, who was alpha up until around May, has a foot that does not dorsally flex. Her good foot also has a couple bad toes, so she does mot get around very well. In May...

Young Polish Hen, suddenly letheargic, bright green liquid stools

I’m sorry to hear this, Bob. I agree Coccidiosis is a distinct possibility. Do you have CORID on hand?

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I’ve had them done in the past. She’d been gone for a few hours by the time I got home. She was in severe rigor mortis so my friend buried her under the walnut tree in the yard. I suspect cancer. She had just molted and wasn’t currently laying with the shortening days.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Thanks. I didn’t. I got home around 12:30am and she was long gone. RIP, sweet, curious Minnie. My dear friend just came by and buried her for me because I’m still recovering.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

No. I’m pretty sure the crop is not the primary problem. I’ve been able to clear many crops over the years. This does not seem impacted nor sour, just slow. Like she has a blockage further down. Not too long ago I had chicken with a blockage further down and she went into complete crop stasis...

Sadly, she’s dying. I’m in the ER mysrlf and hope to get home in time to cuddle her warm and say goodbye.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Thank you. I haven’t gotten chicks in quite some time, so the flock has really aged. I am down to five, ages 9.6, 8.5, 8.5, 6.4, 5.2. Minnie’s crop did not empty overnight, which is a HUGE bummer. Makes it tough to feed her if her crop is already full. It is not impacted nor sour, just slow...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Thanks. Minnie got up a couple times, but tires very quickly. She’s so weak, she’s a bit unsteady. Her crop is slow, too, but I’m hoping to find it empty tomorrow so I can put all kinds of goodness in it (today I gave her some tuna fish, scrambled egg, baby bird formula, and clear Pedialyte...
