    Feathers missing/broken on two chickens

Yes, we are in the process of transitioning them. I will have hubby push the schedule up more as that’s probably the case. Thanks for the feedback.

    Feathers missing/broken on two chickens

Hi. I’ve never experienced this in my years of chicken tending. I have two jubilee orpingtons that have missing and broken feathers (see pics). Vents are clean and no visible mites or lice and they have never been on the ground as they are in our giant 8’ x 4’ brooder right now. I don’t think...

    Which is better?

Why yes, ChickenCanoe, I am the Momma and you pretty much got my tastes down to a science. Love all the stuff you listed first but have never had monkey brains and I did pass on durian due to the smell but love all the others. :)

    Which is better?

Thank you ChickenCanoe! I hadn't thought about the potency for the vitamins. We have 1 more bag of the B one and then maybe I will go back to the other feed. The chickens love feed A much more than B but hubby thinks it is just because they are fuller but I think they are like their momma and...

    Which is better?

Is one better than the other? Ready, set, go... let me know your thoughts please. FEED A Ingredients: Organic corn, organic soybean meal, limestone, organic sun-dried alfalfa, organic flaxseed, organic wheat millrun, monocalcium phosphate, organic kelp meal, diatomaceous earth, Redmond...

Feed Opinion: Which one is nutritionally better or is there not a difference?

Hi All, DH and I have 19 layers that started laying in the past month. We bought Feed "A" and they were going thru about 100 # a month. Went to buy more and they were closed so went to a different feed store and bought Feed "B". Both organic but the chickens seem to eat more of Feed A than...

    What are Your Chickens Named?

Oh what a fun post! We have 10 RIR's and one is named Lizzie (our granddaughter named her) and the rest are all Cleta Mae 1, 2, 3 etc... and Michaela 1, 2, 3 etc ... since they all look alike I pretty much call them one of those names depending on the way they are acting. Then, we have 9 EE's...

Comment by 'leilanio' in item 'Easter Eggers'

Yes, EE's are a breed! Just like the AKC recognizes many dog breeds now that are hybrid, they too are the best of the best, IMO. But I am partial since I have 9 and they all have very wonderful but different personalities. Cheeks is just too cute!

O'Neill Cluck 'o the Irish Bed & Breakfast: Fluffy Butt Adventures

So, for over 2 years, my DH Patrick has been wanting me to give in to having chickens. Nope, nope, nope...every time he "mentioned" it. Then I went to Costco this past Christmas and saw the price of eggs! I walked out of Costco with no eggs and told him to ration what we have left. I was not...

    How to "spray" DE?

I buy my DE off of Amazon. It is 10 Pounds (lasts a while for us) and shipping is Prime (am a Prime member) so I get it pretty fast and it arrives quickly. I also (from Amazon) bought a 6 pack of condiment bottles (ketchup, mustard, etc..) that are tall and in the white plastic. I fill it...
