    Show me your bielefelder crosses.

Oh, I see. If Stanley is a girl, does that mean the father is the silver rooster? Where’s if Stanley is male, the father could be either rooster? The silver color throws me. I didn’t expect a silver chick from a Biele x black hen cross, but Solo has barring so his dad has to be the Biele...

    Show me your bielefelder crosses.

I hope you’re right about Stanley being a pullet. Aside from the silver color, are there any other reasons you think it’s a pullet? I have been confident Stanley was a cockerel until recently when his comb didn’t redden. But the other cockerel, Solo, is much more dominant so I was thinking...

    Show me your bielefelder crosses.

These are my grown Biele mixes. Some I’ve shared here already as chicks- Below is MJ. Dad is a mix (silver w/ red & blue mix of mostly Orpington I think). Mom is a Biele. Below is MJ’s biological brother, Phantom. Below is Betsy Ross, a pullet. Same dad as MJ. Mom is a different Biele. But...

    I hope that’s the case!

    Are these the 10%?

Spud is growing in a really vibrant, iridescent, voluptuous tail that may just be about to curve. That’s why I’m leaning more cockerel at the moment. But 🤞 I’m wrong.

Both Spudnut and Norman? I feel confident about Norman because after the comb popped, he started tidbitting.

We’re moving some birds around today, including moving some young cockerels to the bachelor pen. Spudnut needs to go to the bachelor pad for sure, right? That tail says it all. For anyone who is curious, I’m growing less suspicious about Traci, and she will be staying with her clutch for...

    Swollen rear toes on rooster

Thank you! Hans has been the solo rooster in this flock for the last 2 months. I’ve never seen Hans fight with other roosters. There are a pair who free range occasionally. They don’t often come near Hans’s flock, but it’s possible they have fought at the fence.

Hans stands guard while Gabriel drinks gross tire water instead of the fresh clean water in the coop. 😂

    Swollen rear toes on rooster

Hans is a 1 year old Bielefelder rooster. His rear toes looked a little inflamed a few weeks ago. I suspected SLM and so I dipped his (and most of the rest of the flock) legs in vegetable oil a few times. This seemed to be the most efficient option for the amount of chickens. No one else had...

    Are these the 10%?

Here’s a few more pics. This is a good one to show Traci’s comb color vs Vera Ellen’s comb color. They’re both 4 wk Silverrudds. Although one of my other splash Silverrudds comb suddenly turned pinkish-red… if the color indicates male, I could have 2 males… but the combs aren’t large so there’s...

No red on the wings, so there’s still hope, lol.

Days old chick’s leg cut by string

Quick follow up- Marilyn Monroe seems to have made a full recovery. In fact, to look at her, you can’t tell there was ever a problem. 👏 However I suspect some lasting damage of some sort because the other day I picked her up from above, and she used her leg to try and dislodge herself from my...
