Is Chick ok after piping two days ago?

Thank you. Do you think I should keep him seperate from the others for a couple of days until he becomes active? He dried matted so I took a warm wash cloth and wiped him down. It left yellow on the rag. He still dried matted will he fluff up in a couple of days?

Is Chick ok after piping two days ago?

We had a chick that piped two days ago. He still hadn't broken out today so I chipped the shell and pulled the membrane off him. He was stuck. The membrane was dried out and stuck to him. I placed him in a seperate brooder since the others are active and healthy. He seems to be ok but is...

Sunny side up, how do you let them out during the day? Do you have an enclosed area?

Where do you keep your ducklings?

Do you think the brooder that I have them in now would work outside with a couple of heat lamps? Or should I transfer them at night into the plastic bin with a lamp. It has already gotten down a couple of times to the high 40's at night.

Where do you keep your ducklings?

We only have two ducklings and I keep them inside but they are really starting to smell. I built a bigger brooder but the smell is still bad. Is this normal for 2 ducklings? They are only a little over a week old. Can they go on a screened in patio as long as I have a heat lamp or two? I...

    Ducklings new brooder

He is beautiful! These two are characters. They want you in the room all the time. I had to make revisions today because Fudge kept trying to get through the small squares to get to us. I was afraid he would choke or get stuck. I doubled the panels to make the squares smaller. Fudge is the...

    Ducklings new brooder

Yes, they are rouens and yes I think your right about them jumping out. Someone told me to get a kiddie pool so I got one and they could jump right out of it. I didn't have anything to put aroung the pool to keep them in.

    Ducklings new brooder

The ducklings are a week old tonight. They were making a huge mess (poop) out of the plastic bin they were in so I made them a new one. How fast will they get too big for this one? I can make it taller and put a top on it. It is 14.5" tall. Rough day.

    Oyster shells

Can you use oyster shells instead of grit? No one around here carries the grit. They said the chicks and ducklings get it in their feed. I wanted to start giving my ducklings some greens.

    Spraddle Leg

Thank you, I didn't know if they were suppose to be more active than the ducklings or not. The ducklilngs were all over the place. The one chick seems to have a heavy bottom and he is scooting around. His legs aren't sticking out to the side but he just isn't raising up on them. Another...

    Spraddle Leg

I had two chicks hatch sometime after 1:00am this morning. They were in the incubator at 4:00 when my husband got up. The incubator is small (Brinsea Mini advance) so I took them out and put them in a brooder. They are sleeping quite a bit, but when the big one gets up (I think it is an...
