Ok, well I just gave her about 300 mg in 6 cc of water. I’ll try the coconut oil for the next dose. She weighs about 4 lbs.

Treatment for swollen head due to injury and E. coli infection

I just got some amoxicillin capsules, 500mg. I was planning on mixing it in water and giving it to her by mouth with a syringe. Just looking for the dosage right now. She’s a smaller chicken, flighty breed. (I’ll get a pic for you later today if I can)

Treatment for swollen head due to injury and E. coli infection

Hi, I have a chicken with a head injury from another chicken pecking it. This morning she has a very swollen head, the wound is infected, most likely from E. coli introduced in the cut. I’m thinking about giving antibiotics immediately. Sulfa? It needs to be something I can dissolve in water...

My goose cannot swallow food, very underweight

ok I just gave her some chopped fruit, and she ate and passed it down, she also ate some apple pieces. So there’s apparently no obstruction. So I’m thinking she could be sick, which would explain her being so underweight. i had a turkey die recently from a virus, so maybe this goose caught it...

Review by 'growurfood' in article 'The Egg song, it’s not about the egg; it’s an escort call.'

Interesting look at the how and why a hen makes her "egg call," seems she's actually calling her rooster back because she's done laying and wants to be escorted back to the rest of the flock. Great post!

Raising goslings with father and mother goose.

they've been going on the same grazing walk every day. they have kept the grass short, (where it grows). I have noticed that they like certain plants more than others. they go for soft clump grasses, the horse herb ground cover, and seeds and grains of native plants too. they stay out of the...
