I gave up my 'chicken grandbabies', and Abba has blessed me with three more boys to replace them. My sister is eating most of the eggs my girls produce, so for now I don't need any more hens. But one day, if I get a bigger place, maybe I'll get more girls, but for now I choose to be content. 😁
It makes me glad I didn't hatch 12 of the 12 eggs. Makes me wonder how many more boys I would have got lol. I was hoping for hens, but little Tamar might replace my Ezzy in laying when her time comes as Ezzy stopped laying last September.
Last few times of hatching ... all bar Tamar were boys...
11 weeks today (and little man Aubrey is 8 weeks) Maud still has small wattles. Yes, you are probably right she's a boy, but haven't come up with another name yet. Not sure if these photos are any good ... for those who asked.
We have another 10 days of see, no touch, then I can make another decision, as the youngest boy still hides behind his 'big sister' on occasion. But will keep you all appraised.
Like many of us the question of roo or pullet is real, but I'm curious, do young roosters try to hump roosters?
I ask this as my 4 youngsters have gone into a pen together, and despite being advised that one of my birds is a rooster, it's hatchmate (who I know is a male) keeps trying to hump...
Up until now I have been convinced that Maud is a girl, but I recently noticed her comb is bright red and it looks like the wattles are developing. Could someone clarify if I'm right or wrong please.
Chick update.
No 1 ... Tamar
No 2 ... Maud?
No 3 ... Michael
No 4 ... Audrey, now Aubrey.
Anyone know the breeds, and especially little Aubrey.
The first 3 are 9 weeks, and Aubrey is now 6 weeks, so as soon as their coop is complete they're moving out.
Maud is showing a very red comb, and...
It looks like I have two young roosters from this batch. Currently living in separate boxes, but hopefully will be living together in their own pen separate to the girls. We'll see how it goes when they move outside.
