I don’t feed my Roos anything different from the flock. Everyone gets 18% layer pellets and also 18% textured layer. It’s a mix of grains and a pellet. So the boys get a choice what to eat somewhat.
But they don’t get anything special.
The one thing I learnt last year is that if your chicks are vac’ed for coccidiosis then do not feed amprolium medicated feed - it cancels out the effect of the Vax. This is why my chicks became I’ll last summer I am sure.
I say kick them out and keep a clos e eye on them. Really it’s the only...
They are very lovely. They look more like Aseel than game birds to me.

I feed a 21% starter medicated, but at aroumd 2 weeks they are out an about eating whatever they find, plus the 18% layer (Purina) the bigs eat.
I keep the Starter available for them, which they also eat.
I would love to have some ‘bag-pipes’ (aka Guinea fowl) but they are good fliers and they would be over on my neighbour’s taking Tippy and Butterecotch with them!
Thanks Manue, I checked out the bumble foot link, looks like the dressing cut off the circulation, it’s the one thing I worry about all the time when I dress chicken feet. I didn’t read to the end so I don’t know if the wee fella made it or not.
It was 10C (50F) when I got up this morning - brrrrr! had to find a sweater to wear. Soon it will be Autumn, then winter - but not for a few months yet!
