    Just as a cover crop. The first frost will kill it. If it blooms, so much the better! The honeybees can visit the flowers.

    We got this much: 10 quart jars. They hold a quart if filled to the rim, so this isn't really 10 quarts. :) The bucket of strained honey weighed 36 pounds.

    Helpful hints for building coops

    I have my garlic drying out on the porch. When we need garlic, I go out and grab a bulb, brush it off, and bring it inside. It will take a few hours to clean it all and get it ready to store. That's ok, because it means we'll have plenty of garlic.

    Here in Michigan, "yes please" and "no thank you" were what were drilled into my head. Ma'am, Sir... not so much. Very interesting. I would not have known that I was being rude if I didn't say Ma'am/Sir down south.

    Cool! I'm sorry we put a deep box on as a honey super. I really wish we'd put on a medium. But we had the deep ready to go, and had more frames with comb. Thank goodness we have 8 frame boxes. Deeps get heavy!

    We had some huge oaks that were close to the house taken out about 5 years ago. Very similar set up. Fascinating to watch! The crew foreman said when they're working in a city neighborhood, they get an audience.

    One of my zucchini plants has a vine borer. The give away is that plant has limp leaves and the rest don't.
