    Larkwell Valley (2023)

As long as that hen doesn't do it again, I think she'll heal just fine. It was just bizarre, I have never had that aggressive of a response happen from a hen towards any other bird before. I really don't know what triggered her like that. The duckling has her legs back under her though, amd is...

No, my hen passed a while ago

    Larkwell Valley (2023)

No, chicken hen, but not the mama hen. My ducklings currently are all raised by chickens. I meant that mama hen was three feet away during the attack and only got upset when I came into the picture, she didn't seem to even hear her baby screaming Considering how she looked when I scooped her up...

    Larkwell Valley (2023)

Had a hen hellbent on killing a preteen duckling this morning. Poor thing was already rather stunned when I snatched her up, and was bleeding a lot from her eyes and neck. Had to run to work, hoping she's still okayish when I get home. Mama apparently only cares about me interacting with her...

Hens stole chicks, ok to raise?

The moving enclosures is odd, and hens don't really move chicks like that. But I've had plenty of hens steal chicks, usually from other hens. Keep an eye on them, but odds are they'll wind up okay

I created a sex link by accident.

Nope. Just the normal color differences between males and females with crossed colors

Rooster and hens together or separate coops at night?

Gotcha. I thought you were saying that you could get a barred female in a sexlink crossing (or the opposite for whatever sexlink pair you would do)

Rooster and hens together or separate coops at night?

Unless you do the wrong pairing, you cannot get a sexlink that is displaying the wrong indicators.

Your Experience Keeping a House Chicken

Whenever they poop, just like anything else with a diaper Vitamin D would be my biggest worry

Easter Egger and Olive Egger confusion

Yes. My three are splash and blue just because the marans I used was a splash and couldn't make black chicks

    LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

That angel was very popular today. She ended up selling, which I'm both glad and sad about. Some blank models came from my local game store, others I bought blank from sellers on etsy

    Runner ducks

That's why I said most likely. I have a 2:2 ratio that works with one flock and another that is a 14:4.5 (one drake is disabled enough I don't think he can breed if he even managed to catch a female) that doesn't. Both groups free range all day every day.

    Cross breed question!

Never managed to get to F2. Lost all my male's to a mountain lion and the winter cold

Are bantam breeds better suited for indoor setups?

Not at all. Just as loud if not shriller
