Larkwell Valley (2023)

Selling a few ducks tomorrow hopefully. Planning on the 2 mixed ducklings, and a group of runners.

Killed a baby rattler last night. Princess does not seem to realize that snakes are not something to play with. Hoping she didn't get bit before I got to her. Itty bitty thing, barely even had buttons, but it was definitely not a bull snake so it had to go to keep Princess safe unfortunately.

Beautiful ducks!!! Where do you take yours to sell them. I have sold my babies years ago on Craigslist here.

Had a hen hellbent on killing a preteen duckling this morning. Poor thing was already rather stunned when I snatched her up, and was bleeding a lot from her eyes and neck. Had to run to work, hoping she's still okayish when I get home. Mama apparently only cares about me interacting with her, because she didn't do a thing until I snagged her off the ground

So sorry that this happened. So not to be stupid but to ask the Momma Duck did this to her own duckling? With it not being a newborn I was just surprised. I never knew they would go after their own when they were a bit older.

No, chicken hen, but not the mama hen. My ducklings currently are all raised by chickens. I meant that mama hen was three feet away during the attack and only got upset when I came into the picture, she didn't seem to even hear her baby screaming

Considering how she looked when I scooped her up this morning, she looks great now. She still had at least one eye, and where her neck and shoulder were torn open loom fine now if a bit painful. The other eye is probably fine, I just couldn't get close enough to see for sure

Thanks for explaining, I was confused and had never heard of a Momma Duck doing that to her baby when it was not a newborn. I hope that it recovers well for you.
