Sorry to be gone for so long and tag you - this is my friend. She's thinking of trying a wormer since she can't get her hen into a vet and she has no other symptoms than lethargy and a bit of a poopy butt once.
What wormer would be safe to start with for a young...
Hello from Warrenton, VA! I have a gorgeous Easter Egger cockerel, 6.5 months old, who needs a new home. Docile, non-aggressive, grown up around children. We don't have enough hens for another boy, unfortunately.

Nope. One is likely a Dominique cross, but all are barred to some extent - I guess from papa (below). I am going on the color of their combs, which are all red (at 7 weeks ).
Update! Our six chicks are almost 7 weeks old. I had hoped that ONE of the six was a hen, but alas, no! SIX cockerels! Still, they are awesome. They free range with the big ladies and roo during the day, and are in a tractor coop at night. I think when they are big enough to start getting...
Update time! So she isn't just a great broody, but an amazing mama, too. She catches bugs and gives them to the chicks, smashes mealworms into bite size pieces, and hunkers down when babies hop up for a ride (mostly). And the babies are sweet, too!
For the curious:
Papa is a CCLB/EE (Cochin? He has feathered legs)
Broody mama is Appenzeller Spitzhauben/Cochin - one egg is hers
Other 6 eggs from:
Dominique
Silver Ameracauna
Speckled Sussex
Gold laced Orpington
Olive Egger (also CCLB cross)

Baby 1! I offered mama a drink (she drank like she'd never had water, same with eating) and while she was eating, a baby joined right in! So bold! Jumped up on my hand! Another one came out from under her wing, also dark and fluffy, with a smaller white spot - didn't get a photo. Lots more...
This post was confusing, sorry - I've edited it for clarity. We won't know how many chicks hatched until mama leaves the nest box with them, correct?
I don't plan on looking under her, because I want all of the chicks who are going to hatch to have a chance. This day (20) and tomorrow (21) are...
We have at least one chick! I poked my head in this morning to offer her a drink and a bite on the nest and a little dark head poked out from under mama's breast! I skedaddled! From the peeping I overheard from outside the stall, I'm going to guess more than one.
