We’re on day 10 with my broody hen and her eight eggs. She got off today and let her eggs cool out while sitting on today’s batch. Are they pretty much done for?
Help, I am not sure if there is a virus that is spreading in my flock or if my chickens are egg bound. About two weeks ago we had new checks. I separated the main flock from the chicken coop for about a week. I had a nest box set up for them in the chicken run but I only got about four eggs in...
Wow I am so surprised to get advice like this. I can't believe the contraptions people have made to help chicks out. I'll get right on this. Thank you so much for these ideas and the prompt response!
Hi, I have a three day old baby chick that got injured by a hen. The injury occurred on the inside of her thigh about two days ago. Yes she was only about a day old or two. I thought she wasn't going to make it through the day but she still alive now. She cannot walk. She only has one leg to...
Aah so you're saying that he can't breed true within his ameraucana clan. Black can't breed wheaten and still be called a true bred ameraucana. He'll make ameraucana chicks but they are a hodgepodge of colors. Fun, kinda like the Kinder surprise eggs!
No gold, that's just sun. Today I caught...

So I went to this website and checked in their gallery. Sure enough the black cock looks like my guy with the shiny green feathers amidst the black. I checked his skin too. He is a pure Ameraucana. Thanks for getting me all that info!
So now that you gave me your opinions here is what I was told when I bought the fertilized egg. Wheaten ameraucana. I figured he is a rooster due to tail feathers. So when I looked up wheaten ameraucanas online I couldn't find anything resembling this guy. Thus I was hoping for your input. Now...
There are bare and raw bottomed chickens in my flock. I never experienced this before. But come to think of it the buff orpingtons started eating down feathers when they were all still chicks. At first we thought it was cute how they went after the flying objects but now this has become a real...
Ok. It is official. I sat on the porch with binoculars and watched. The buffy and the dominant hen a speckled sussex, a favorite with my kids, are the ones plucking and gobbeling up feathers. Separated them and will give them away to a flock with a rooster.
I am so mad, I had nightmares about...
No rooster. But a dominant hen. I can't find feathers anywhere. I think she is hurting this and two other hens. The big buff orpingtons seem to only be missing feathers around the neck.
If that is the case what am I to do?
This lady Wellsummer is having some issues.
She, like some of the others, has frazzled bottoms and have lost most of their feathers. All are laying well. Except that this Wellie had a dusty looking egg today and the 'dust' wasn't dust just a rough egg with discoloration making it look like it...

What are your thoughts on these two? One of them looks different than the other two I have. Is it a rooster (EE 1)? Never had Easter Eggers before. Of course they were sold to me as Ameraucanas. But after doing my little research I found that I must have EEs, am I right? But more importantly is...
