Oh my chickens they would just pluck out plants for fun and not even eat it! I have been there and I'd suggest trying to fence them out somehow. Your poor lavender! 😖
I'm very excited to start redesigning our old prefab coop since it is not ideal for the Texas weather. The biggest downfall was how the coop would turn into an oven during the summers due to the poor ventilation. My family and I pondered whether we want a dog or chickens again and we just love...
Do you guys have any suggestions on that size kind of coop that has good ventilation? What small coop do y'all recommend?
Also we let our chicken run around in the whole back yard so space isn't an issue! We just want one to three chickens currently!
I have a small coop for 2 to 3 chickens and unfortunately one of my birds passed away from the coop being so hot while she was trying to lay. :(
I don’t want this happening again but the Texas weather is brutal hitting 105 where I’m at. It doesn’t help that there doesn’t seem to be much air flow...
A free digital art program would be “Fire Alpaca”. Crazy name I know but it’s very good for starting out with digital art! I would suggest a tablet. No need for a super expensive one just a 25 dollar one to do the trick for now. Level up once you get the hang of it! :D
Hello!
I have a 18 week silver laced wyandotte and I came to check on them and her beak was all bloodied!
It looks like the top layer of the front beak had chipped off. It seems like she’s in pain and eats very carefully.
Is there anything I can do to help her? Will it grow back?
Hello!
I’ve been starting to have a problem with this white cotton looking growth around the run. I’ve been keeping the run clean for the most part but its been growing where they graze, so I’d like to know how to get rid of it. I live in the good ol’ hot state of Texas where it’s been humid and...
Hello!
I’ve been seeing icy/snowy looking mold on the ground and in the run! It’s been attracting sooo many flies and smells terrible!
I’ve been cleaning it but it doesn’t seem to go away!
Anyone know what to do?
Edit:
I attached some photos.
It’s been on and off raining and 90+ degree weather.
P2:
I wanted to make another comment on her behavior change for both me and anyone who has a chicken having the same behavioral issues and doesn’t know what to do.
So, after about a week or so she ended up laying eggs! Her behavior changed pretty drastically! She then started to do that...
Hello!
I know it’s a bit early to tell the gender but I still wanna know any predictions. Girl or boy? This is a silver laced wyandotte about 5 weeks old. I watch a few videos on the breed and someone did a study that the darker ones turned out female and she was really dark when I got her...
Hello!
I’ve hand raised 2 chickens so far; a salmon Flaverolle and a blue laced red wyandotte. The Flaverolle has an amazing temperament, lays good eggs and overall great chicken. Then we got my wyandotte...
She’s been pecking at us and has even attacked a family member! I’m not sure what to do...
Hello!
My chickens are about to lay any day now and now I’m concerned if they are going to be laying in the coop at all!
It’s HOT in Texas as any Texan will tell ya. The weathers great at 80 and hot in the 90s.
so I notice they tend to go in the shade to cool off and do their dust baths as...
I typically lock em up for a lil bit when I’m taking the chick outside to roam so she won’t try anything dangerous with the baby, but she even does this when I have the chick close by or in my hands. I’m not sure of her demeanor yet.
Hello!
I’ve been raising this baby chick for about 3 weeks now and from the beginning I’ve seen a weird behavior from my 5ish month blue laced red wyandotte Mamés Tiki. She always does this back and forward pacing whenever the chick is around. Of course I never let them too close to not risk the...
Hello!
I have a silver laced wyandotte almost 3 weeks, and she does this weird thing I can’t wrap my head around.
It’s almost like she’s yawning, but it’s more of the action. Opening the mouth wide and elongating her neck out in the action of a yawn. It comes in multiples of at least threes or...
