I juiced some beets and carrots one time, and fed the flesh to the chickens. Their yolks came out a beautiful dark pink/yellow color. Sort of like a tequila sunrise. :)
I just got three ducks, but am not crazy about duck eggs. I only use them for baking, and I mix one duck with two chicken for scrambled eggs. The whites are too grainy for me.
I have three Pekin ducks. I have never seen any other breeds available for purchase, but these will do fine. I had three of these in my last round. :). They are very sweet.

I like your frost covers. Mine are old sheets and they weigh down the tomato plants. I also have Seminole peas, broccoli, sweet potatoes, spinach, celery, kale chard, rutabagas, bride eggplant, strawberries, and some fruit trees. But I have a very shady yard and I haven't gotten any harvest yet.

Right you are! Imagine s Yankee complaining that they had to cover their tomato plants in January?!? I have about 20 Roma tomatoes still green. I brought in some eggplants too, and some rutabagas. :)
