    Feather loss around neck

OInce again- sooo glad this site is here! I have a barred rock who is 9 months old and looks the same as you desrcibed. And pin feathers are a good description of what I am seeing on her pitiful looking neck. She is my only barred rock. Glad it's only molting. Thanks!

Medicated food AND Sav-A-Chick - bad idea?

Thanks for the thread. I was going to ask the same thing since I noticed the chick starter I got is medicated, even though thats not what I asked for- oops. And I've been using Sav a Chick as well. I'm happy to know that the combination isn't too much for them. BTW- It says on the Sav a Chick...

We are enjoying our 8 new chicks! The Welsummer was older than the rest when we got them. Not sure how old but she is definitely not camera shy! She's very sweet to the smaller chicks.

    Pasty Butt...

I'm really new to this but here's my pasty experience. They say to be careful putting damp chicks in with other chicks cuz they'll get pecked. I decided to check a thread on 'poopy butt' before going to bed the other night. I had a 4 day old EE that was acting very tired and she was hiding...

You saved my chick! Thanks lades- I decided to check this thread before going to bed the other night. I had a 4 day old EE that was acting very tired and she was just hiding behind the thermometer and keeping to herself. She had dried poop over her vent for over 24 hours at that point. I'm so...

Hello from Central Coast of California

Thank you all for the warm welcome! Love the site. I read up on threads regarding "poopy butt" and it ended up saving one of our chicks lives. I really don't think she would have made it through the night if I hadn't thought to question this and if you all hadn't shared your experiences. Thanks...

Hello from Central Coast of California

Hello Everyone. I am so happy to have found and now joined BYC. I have lurked for about a year while deciding if we should take the chicken plunge! My husband Bo and I decided to go for it and he just made me a brooder. Our neighbor has chickens and has also been a lot of help as well as sharing...
